The structures compared
| Structure | How you repay | In a slow month |
|---|---|---|
| Card-sales split (holdback) | Fixed % of each day's card sales | Payment falls with sales, but the payoff takes longer |
| Fixed daily ACH | Same amount every business day from your bank | Payment stays the same, so it takes a bigger share of thinner deposits |
| Fixed weekly ACH | Same amount once a week | Same as daily but easier to plan around payroll |
| Term loan | Monthly or weekly installments | Fixed, usually needs stronger credit and history |
| Equipment financing | Monthly payments; the equipment is the collateral | Fixed. Only for equipment purchases |
ACH does not erase an existing lien
Paying by ACH from your bank account changes how the money moves. It does not change what you have already pledged. Toast's FAQ says it may file a UCC lien to protect its priority on card receivables. If a new agreement also claims those receivables, the two can conflict, even when the new payments come out by ACH. Any new structure has to be checked against your existing agreements.
Choose by what your deposits can carry
Fixed payments are easier to plan but harder in a slow stretch. Percentage payments ease off in a slow week but run longer. Look at your weakest month in the last six, not the best. If a fixed payment would push that month negative, lower the amount or choose a structure that flexes.

Questions owners ask
Can I get restaurant funding that is not a percentage of card sales?
Yes. Fixed daily or weekly ACH, term loans and equipment financing do not take a percentage of card sales. Which ones you qualify for depends on credit, time in business and deposits.
Is fixed ACH cheaper than a card split?
Not automatically. Cost depends on the total payback, not the payment method. Compare total payback in dollars.
Does fixed ACH avoid conflicts with Toast Capital?
Not by itself. Toast may hold a UCC lien on card receivables. Your existing agreement still needs reviewing.
