Good reasons to fund inventory
- A booked event or season: a 300-guest catering job, a festival weekend, holiday parties
- Distributor terms: a supplier cutting you from net-30 to cash on delivery
- Early-pay or volume discounts that are worth more than the cost of the money
- Beverage and liquor buys ahead of a busy stretch
- A new menu or location that needs opening stock
Check the timing
| Illustration only | Amount |
|---|---|
| Distributor and beverage invoices for December | $42,000 |
| Cash on hand set aside for inventory | −$12,000 |
| Gap to fund | $30,000 |
| Extra December sales expected from that stock | $65,000 |
| Weekly payment on the funding (example) | $1,600 |
Made-up numbers. The test: do the expected extra sales arrive before or while the payments run, and does a normal week still cover payroll and rent with the payment added? ToastFunding's range starts at $25,000. For a smaller gap, ask the distributor about terms first.
When it does not fit
If vendor balances are past due because sales have been below costs for months, more inventory funding adds a payment without fixing the cause. Look at menu pricing, food cost and labor first. If several advances are stacked, a single consolidated payment may help more than new money.

Questions owners ask
Can I use restaurant funding to pay my food distributor?
Yes. Working capital can pay distributor and vendor invoices. Approval depends on your deposits, time in business and existing obligations.
Can I fund inventory for a single big event?
Often, if the event is booked and the deposits show the business can carry the payment. Bring the contract or booking confirmation.
Will past-due vendor bills stop me from getting funded?
Not automatically, but heavy past-due balances and negative days weigh on the decision. Be upfront about them.
